Kingwood Family Attorney
Helping Good People Through Difficult Times
Even in the cases when divorce is the best thing, it is a challenge for everyone involved. If you are facing a divorce or other family law matter, it is important to work with an attorney who can help you see through the emotions of the present, so you can make long-term decisions that will help you maintain the working relationships for years to come.
As a family lawyer serving Kingwood and surrounding area of Texas, I know that the co-parenting agreement and other divorce arrangements will need to work for many years, so I will provide you with sound legal counsel and representation to help you get the best results possible in your case.
Family Law Mediation
Whenever possible, I encourage my clients to settle their divorce disputes through mediation. It is a more amicable, cost-effective approach that leaves more control in the hands of the parties involved rather than in the hands of the judge presiding over the case.
I am a trained and licensed mediator, so I can represent your interests in mediation or I can facilitate the mediation as a neutral. I am also an experienced trial lawyer, so if mediation is not a viable option in your case, I am prepared to fight for your interests and the interests of your children at trial.

Focusing On The Children
In my practice as a divorce and family law attorney, I consider the children to be of the utmost importance. In every case I handle, I make sure to work with the parents to protect the children’s interests and make sure they receive the ongoing care they need.
How Do I Start The Divorce Process In Texas?
Taking the first step can feel overwhelming but the process itself follows a clear path. In Texas, you officially begin a divorce by filing a petition with the correct court. Once filed, you must legally notify your spouse by having them formally served with these papers or by having them sign a waiver of service. Texas law requires a 60-day “cooling off” period from the date of filing before a divorce can be finalized, even if both parties agree on everything. During this waiting period, you can work on important matters, such as temporary child custody arrangements, support payments and who stays in the family home.
Do I Really Need To Hire An Attorney For My Family Law Case?
Family law involves a wide array of complexities that most people are not familiar with, from property division to child support calculations and custody arrangements. An attorney knows how to properly complete and file court documents, meet critical deadlines and present your case effectively to a judge.
